Wedding in San Gimignano, Tuscany

June 30, 2018

“But at the end of my days I would like to go back on foot, shoulder bag, the road from Monte San Savino to Siena, skirt the countryside of olives and grapes of which I smell the smell, see Siena rise in the sunset with its minarets, like a Constantinople of perfection”

Among the sunnied hills of Val d’Elsa, immersed in the magnificent Sienese hills, stands the splendid village of San Gimignano, surrounded by 13th-century walls that embrace a medieval setting of intact splendor.

Its historic center, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fabric of masterpieces of art from the 14th and 15th centuries, but also a concrete example of ancient urban architectures that are the setting for the most seductive realities of local artistic craftsmanship: here more than anywhere else the strong innovative spirit and creative research surprises. Today we want to present a romantic wedding in the beautiful hills of San Gimignano. The protagonists of the story are Alberto and Patrizia, he Sicilian DOC, she Panamanian.

It’s a warm June morning when we arrive at the Fattoria di Larniano, a location chosen by the spouses as the setting for their wedding day.
It is a complex consisting of various buildings including a small church dedicated to San Martino and the imposing medieval tower from which it takes its name.
It is thought that this tower, very similar to that of the villa, was built later than the other because of a curious circumstance: it is in perfect alignment with the Tower of Buonriposo and the Torre Grossa of San Gimignano.

Before starting to follow our spouses in their respective dresses we dedicate some time to make some shots with the drone to give a setting to our film also taking advantage of the wonderful light that the Tuscan reserve.
We then head to the rooms of the location where the groom and bride begin to prepare with their guests, is a marriage full of people from various parts of the world: Panama, England, America and Italy.

As a place to celebrate the marriage ceremony, Alberto and Patrizia chose the Cathedral of San Gimignano, the main place of Catholic worship in the area.
Located in Piazza del Duomo, it is at the top of a wide stairway which dominates the western side of the square.
The Cathedral is undoubtedly among the most significant monuments of the city. The internal space of the church, with a basilica plan, is punctuated by fourteen classical Tuscan stone columns, of which ten are round and four octagonal.
The walls of the church are entirely covered with frescoes that tell the stories of the New and the Old Testament painted by illustrious painters of the Sienese school of the fourteenth century.
Here our spouses exchanged their promises in a very intimate and romantic atmosphere and then moved outside the cathedral where the classic throwing of rice took place by friends and relatives.

We are then back to the Fattoria di Larniano where to wait for everyone there is an elegant aperitif followed by an excellent lunch at the end of which we take the opportunity to go for some shots with the couple. It is now the hour of sunset and there is no time and the best light to devote to the couple.
Walking around we discover a part of the garden with a rich abundance of lavender, kidnapped by its smell and the light that filters on it immortalize our beautiful couple.
Returned by the guests, a further aperitif is given, with changes of dress both by the groom who decides to wear an elegant tuxedo that some guests may have.
The light has now fallen on the Sienese hills and it is time for dinner. A very rich buffet with typical Tuscan dishes invites guests to sit down.
After cutting the cake the real party begins with a local complex that delights us with rock n roll songs involving all the guests. To follow, the open bar opens and from rock n roll you go to the DJ et.

The party continued with laughter, dancing and swimming in the pool until late at night under a starry sky and a truly pleasant atmosphere. We leave the Fattoria di Larniano really happy.

It was an honor for us to take part in this wonderful destination wedding. Thanks guys and good life together.
